Choosing the right location for your cellar is as important as the cooling system. The ideal spot minimises the thermal load — away from exterior walls with direct sun exposure, not above a garage or mechanical room, and in an interior space where ambient temperature fluctuations are smallest.

Basements are rare in Miami's construction due to the water table, so most cellars are built in interior rooms, under staircases, in converted closets or in purpose-built spaces adjacent to the dining room or kitchen.
